Workshop Description
The Viscoplastic Fluids Workshop is a small, intellectually stimulating, single-track technical program along with time for engaged discussions on topics relevant to viscoplastic fluids. This is the 9th installment in the VPF series and the first time being hosted in the USA.
A history of prior workshops can be found here. (previously held in the UK, New Zealand, Canada, France, Brazil, Cyprus, and Switzerland)
Location & Lodging
The Allerton Park & Retreat Center is part of the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign. The retreat center includes a mansion with on-site lodging, beautiful formal gardens, pristine natural areas, 1,500 acres of woodland and prairie areas, and 14 miles of hiking trails. https://allerton.illinois.edu/
On-site lodging and all meals are included in full registration, creating a retreat-style setting that enables reflection, discussion, and scholarly engagement with other participants.
Timing & Travel
Starting with an evening reception on Sunday Oct 8 and ending just before lunch on Thursday Oct 12, 2023. Fly to Chicago O’Hare (or Champaign-Urbana) from anywhere in the world.
Registration
Full Registration ($915) includes lodging, all meals, and VPF9 technical programming.
Local Part Time Registration (no lodging) ($100) is available for locals (e.g. UIUC faculty, staff, postdocs, students) who do not want lodging at Allerton. Includes access to all workshop sessions. Meals provided as requested at no extra cost. Local Participation is funded in part by a generous gift from the Grainger College of Engineering.
